This site was established in November 2000 to promote Scottish Country Dancing to a wider audience in the Wellington Region. We also hope that overseas dancers will include Wellington in any travel plans and will assure them of a warm welcome.

We acknowledge the support of Wellington Community Networks and the Wellington City Council in hosting this site.

Many of our members do not have access to the Internet and so we need to bear in mind that "Harbour City Happenings" and Club notice boards will continue to be important sources of information to our members.

The webmaster maintains a E-mail list for dancers in Wellington Region, who do not necessarily need to be RSCDS members. These lists are not made available to others. We send out occasional short E-mails concerning upcoming events and other news, including any cancellation of summer outdoor dancing. To be added to or removed from these E-mail lists please E-mail the webmaster at: info@rscds.wellington.net.nz . Unfortunately, privacy concerns mean that Email addresses given to the NZ Branch are not available for updating the Region list.

Any documents on this site will be in .pdf format where ever possible, this being both an international standard and easier to deal with than .doc documents. .pdf files can be created by Adobe's commercial software or the word processing section of 'Open Office' (free to download and use). However documents may be sent in .odt, .doc, .rtf formats and the webmaster will convert them to the .pdf format. With respect to .doc and .rtf please do not include any backgrounds or 'watermarks', this can make the documents difficult to deal with. Please do not send items in the .docx format which is the default for Office 2007, many of us cannot handle this format. It is also better to use a 'table' to lay out dance programmes etc rather than using the 'tab' key. Any queries please E-mail the webmaster at: info@rscds.wellington.net.nz .

Dance instructions are protected by copyright and therefore these cannot be included on this Site unless specifically authorised by the author and publisher. This also applies to 'cribs'. It is important for dancers to support the RSCDS, groups and authors by continuing to purchase dance publications.
